More Than a Photo: Giving Back
Some of our most treasured belongings are photographs. A picture of our children before they grew another inch. A portrait with a parent we wish we saw more often. An image of ourselves that reminds us we are beautiful, strong, and worthy of being seen.
These moments matter, but when money is tight, professional photography often falls to the bottom of the list. Rent, groceries, transportation, and caring for our families come first. Photos become something we’ll schedule “someday,” when life settles down or there’s a little more room in the budget.
But life keeps moving while we wait.
That’s why I’m offering Pay What You Can photo sessions. I want to create an opportunity for more people in our community to preserve meaningful memories without the pressure of a traditional session price.
Everyone Deserves to Be in the Picture
So often, one person in a family becomes the unofficial photographer. They’re behind the phone at birthdays, holidays, and everyday milestones, capturing everyone else while rarely appearing in the photos themselves.
Sometimes we avoid the camera because we don’t feel confident. We tell ourselves we’ll book a session after we lose weight, find the right outfit, or feel more comfortable in our own skin.
You deserve to exist in photographs as you are today. Your children, your partner, and the people who love you see someone worth remembering. You don’t need a special occasion or a perfect season of life to step into the frame.
A short photo session can be a chance to pause, reconnect, and recognize the love and life already around you.
What Photography Can Give Back to a Community
Giving back can take many forms. For me, one of those forms is sharing the skills and creativity I have with the people around me. Accessible photography can give a family a portrait they’ve wanted for years. It can help someone celebrate a fresh start, mark a personal milestone, or rediscover a little confidence during a difficult chapter. It can preserve a connection between generations or capture a friendship that has become family. There’s also something meaningful about feeling welcomed into a creative space without having to explain your financial situation. A pay-what-you-can approach makes room for different circumstances while recognizing that everyone’s memories have value.
My hope is that these sessions offer people a positive experience alongside their finished images: time to feel comfortable, receive encouragement, and enjoy being seen.
Building Connection Close to Home
A community grows through the ways we show up for one another. Sometimes that means shopping at a small business, sharing a neighbor’s work, recommending a local service, or making an opportunity more accessible.
These sessions are my way of contributing through photography. They allow me to meet more people, hear their stories, and create something personal with them. They also give people a way to support a local artist within their means. Every booking contributes to the time, editing, equipment, and care that go into this work. Sharing the sessions with someone who might appreciate them helps, too. That exchange matters. It creates a connection between a small business and the community it serves, with room for both generosity and support.
A Welcoming Space for Your Story
Families come in many forms, and everyone deserves to have their connections celebrated. Whether you’re coming with your children, your partner, your chosen family, or by yourself, you are welcome. You don’t need to know how to pose or feel natural in front of a camera. I’ll help guide you so we can create images that feel comfortable and true to you. Maybe you’re celebrating something wonderful. Maybe life has been heavy, and you simply want one beautiful thing to hold onto from this season. Whatever brings you here, your story deserves care.
How the Sessions Work
Each session is 15 minutes and includes three edited images, making it a simple way to update your photos or capture a meaningful moment. A $25 payment holds your spot. Please message me for the full pay-what-you-can details and availability.
My hope is that these sessions make it easier to say yes to being photographed, to stop waiting for the perfect time and preserve a little of your life as it is now.
Because years from now, that photograph may mean more than you can imagine.
Message me to learn more or reserve your session. I’d love to help you create something worth keeping.
